Types of Eczema Most People Suffer From

Studies show that there are multiple types of eczema, and all have different symptoms and causes. Certain chemicals, or allergies will cause most instances of eczema. Then there are the ones related to fluid retention on the legs, because of a medical condition.

Atopic eczema-
Atopic eczema comes and goes, and usually occurs in people who are prone to allergies. Atopic eczema is found early, usually in infants 2 to 18 months old. It primarily affects the face, ears, and neck. In some cases the torso is affected.

Contact Dermatitis-
Contact Dermatitis is just that. From contact. Whether it be chemical compounds, or certain fabrics, or even plants, contact dermatitis is brought on by the irritant touching the skin.

Varicose Eczema-
Varicose eczema affects the lower legs primarily in older people. It is due to poor circulation. In most cases the ankle area is affected and this is the reason why it is becoming blotchy and speckled.

Discoid Eczema-
Middle aged men are the prime targets for discoid eczema. It can be found in round patches on the arms and legs. These patches can ooze fluid and will itch. Sometimes the trunk of the body is affected.

Hand Eczema-
Excessive hand washing can very often cause hand eczema. It can also be linked to atopic eczema. Latex Allergy is a common cause for hand eczema.

In order to treat eczema, you must first find out why you have the irritation in the first place. Do you have any kinds of allergies, or is it a chemical? If it is something you can get rid of, then without a doubt, you should get rid of it. If it is an allergy that has been inherited, you may need to see a specialist.

After you have discerned which type of eczema you suffer from, the next step is to seek help. If you have a physician, ask them how to treat your symptoms. To help relieve the itching most of the times a cream, or corticosteroid is given. Keep an eye out for signs of the different types of eczema, especially if there is anyone in your family that suffers from any particular type.

Also, if age is a factor in eczema, you should keep watch on the places where eczema typically begins. Preventative measures are a great way to stay on top of things. Using a good hand cream can moisturize hands and elbows, making it less likely for you to develop problem itching on those areas. Also, if there is any dry, flaky skin, don’t scratch! Scratching can cause abrasions that leads to infection, this is why scratching is the worst thing for irritated skin. And this is a more serious conditions, that’s why to keep itchies at bay, you should keep a lotion on hand.
